About James Smartt Jr.:
A Philadelphia native, Dr. Smartt graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently continued a plastic surgery residency at this same prestigious institution where he was mentored by Dr. Bucky in advanced aesthetic plastic surgery techniques.
Following his residency, Dr. Smartt was awarded prestigious fellowships in pediatric and craniofacial surgery at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he did extensive work with adolescents with cleft palates and developed a refined expertise in rhinoplasty and otoplasty as a result. During this time, Dr. Smartt served on the faculty at both institutions as well as at the University of Texas Southwestern, which holds the honor of being ranked a top plastic surgery training program in the United States.
Dr. Smartt has been the recipient of numerous awards and research grants, and has enjoyed author credits on reconstructive and aesthetic surgery methods and applications for top-tier peer-reviewed journals, representing a passion for maintaining his position at the forefront of state-of-the-art patient care and technologies.
