About Robert Pegues:
Dr. Pegues earned his Medical degree at Duke University and trained in General Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and then in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Maryland. He then had the distinction of completing the first surgical fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in the United States in 1991. He was one of the first surgeons in the U.S. to perform laparoscopic hysterectomies and has trained hundreds of other surgeons in this technique. His practice encompasses all areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has special interests in laparoscopic procedures, in Gynecologic Urology and in procedures for treatment of pelvic prolapse. Dr. Pegues is actively involved in hospital and professional organizations and has served as the Chairman of Quality Assurance in Gynecology at GBMC for more than 25 years. He takes an active interest in teaching surgical residents and medical students in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine OB/GYN program and he teaches and lectures nationally to doctors preparing for their final board examinations.
Dr Pegues, his wife Cheri, and son Brenton live in Towson. When not on office or hospital duty he enjoys family time at home and maintains an active involvement in local school and community programs and in his church. He is a longtime pianist and enjoys playing the piano and organ in church worship services and in the community.
