“The female body is truly amazing!”, says Lizzie Wesser. She is a proponent of life-long learning and it compels her to find the best solutions to the problems women face. She says, “Through my work as a nurse in labor and delivery, I realized I wanted to create long lasting relationships with my patients, meeting their needs throughout their lifespan, while helping them live a healthy lifestyle.”
As the mother of a child with Down syndrome, Lizzie recognizes that sometimes life will take a different course than maybe you had thought or planned. She wants her patients to know that she will be with them each step along the way – to support them, care for them, and advocate for what’s best for their health and well-being.
“I’m an open and honest person, and my patients can count on me to be a strong advocate for their health and well-being,” says Wesser. “I’m an extrovert and I’m usually smiling, so it’s easy for me to create space for people to feel comfortable and be themselves when with me. I want women to know they can trust me and openly communicate without judgment.”
Lizzie thinks the female body is nothing short of a miracle and believes, “There is nothing more powerful than a mother’s love.”
Seeing woman through pregnancy is what drew Lizzie to become an ObGyn Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She loves educating women on techniques for coping with labor and caring for themselves and their children. She has also realized that it can be life-changing and that knowledge and experience can be passed throughout generations.
“Preventative medicine and well-woman visits are critical for helping women be the healthiest versions of themselves,” says Lizzie. She also seeks less invasive solutions for treatment, when needed. “Women have different healthcare needs at different stages of their lives. I like the complexity of the female body and finding the best solutions to problems women face from teen years through menopause.”
Lizzie loves adolescent health because she can encourage a healthy lifestyle at an early age. “I like educating teens on sexual health and making good choices. I have the ability to help guide and support them through the process.”
Lizzie and her husband Jonathan have three young daughters, Ella, Norah and Grace. She enjoys running with her dog, Luna, and spending as much time outside as possible. She also loves reading, but as the mother of three young children, she is currently focusing on reading children’s books with her girls.
