Laura graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. After nursing school, she was a labor and delivery nurse for six years. Ms. Burnham then went on to complete her graduate studies at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, with an MSc degree in women's health. She has practiced as a nurse practitioner in Howard County as well as at Johns Hopkins, over the past seven years.

Ms. Burnham's medical interests include well-woman's care, contraceptive counseling, adolescent health, colposcopy and obstetric care.

Besides being a nurse practitioner, Ms. Burnham is the proud mother of two sons. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, building Legos and playing football with her sons.
