“One of my favorite things about being a midwife is how creative the work is. No two people are identical and I love to use a variety of approaches to meet people where they are. All women are deserving of a healthy pregnancy and empowering delivery, whatever that means for them. Providing choices in birth settings is so important and I love attending deliveries in both birth center and hospital as the values of midwifery care are equally applicable in both settings.”
Kate Peck began her career as a labor support doula in Brooklyn, New York. After establishing a clear passion for supporting birthing people and their families she went on to become a nurse-midwife and lactation counselor.
Kate was fortunate to learn under many skilled midwives in Brooklyn, attending both home births and birth center deliveries at the Brooklyn Birthing Center. During that time she completed a bachelor's degree in nursing followed by a master's degree in nurse-midwifery at SUNY Downstate.
Following the birth of her daughter in 2015, Kate obtained her certification as a lactation counselor and is a dedicated breastfeeding educator as well as an avid believer in the need for increased support during the postpartum period.
Kate has since worked in a variety of settings including birth center and hospital and is thrilled to now be part of the team at the Connecticut Childbirth & Women's Center offering patient-centered care throughout pregnancy and postpartum as well as offering well-woman gynecological care.
