About Adelle Schaefer:

Dr. Schaefer graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2017. She completed her residency in Psychiatry, as well as a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry, at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. She then completed an additional fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

As a psychiatrist, Dr. Schaefer believes that a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental atmosphere is of utmost importance. During appointments, she has a relaxed demeanor that allows patients to feel comfortable. Dr. Schaefer enjoys working with individuals from many different backgrounds. She values openness, honesty, and a willingness to work together in the therapeutic relationship.

Dr. Schaefer believes that high-quality healthcare, including (and especially) mental healthcare, should be accessible to everyone. TelaPsychiatry and the increased access to telemedicine allows her to help make this possible for her patients.

Personal Interests

Dr. Schaefer enjoys any type of physical activity (weightlifting, cycling, running, yoga, hiking…you name it!), traveling, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Dr. Schaefer is a Double Board Certified Psychiatrist (Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry). She has published several articles in the field of psychiatry, and also co-authored a book chapter about psychotherapy. She has presented material at several national Psychiatry conferences, including at the American Psychiatric Association’s annual meeting. She serves as a teacher and mentor to medical students and Psychiatry residents at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, New York. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
